RE: 5th wheel generator question

I use 2 cable locks to my hitch base, which is also pin locked. I put an old airconditioner cover over the gen. If they want it, they are going to have to work for it.

RE: Jayflight vs Eagle Jayco Trailers

We have the Jayco 341RLQS Eagle and love everything about it. It is a heavy fiver, 11,800 dry and up to 14,200 loaded. Nice roadability, i.e., no sway when the big boys zip past you, or high crosswinds. Really nice interiors, very comfortable and roomy. Not too much lacking to be it's more costly cousin, the Designer. You should however have a truck with ability to haul this fiver. with the F350, you still know that trailer is behind you. Highly recommend the Moryde pin box and axle shocks. Really smooths out the tow.

RE: Need a recipe for Scalloped Potatoes

Make them a lot.
Per 3 qt caserole:
6-8 potatoes(depending on size)peeled
1-2 large sweet onions sliced fairly thin
3-4 cans evaporated milk
salt and pepper to taste (can also use steak seasoning salt)
Layer potatoes and onions in 3 qt caserole
Lightly season each layer
cover with evaporated milk
season top layer
Place on a tray in preheated 375 deg oven
Bake for 1-1 1/2 hrs (depends on oven)
After about 50 minutes, watch for nice brown topping to develop
Dish is done when potatoes are fork tender.

RE: Ford 6.4L PSD.....Buy one or not?

I have 24.4K on mine with no problems. Tows a 15.5K fiver very nicely. With a 4:30 rear, knew from the git go it wouold not be easy on fuel. Not too bad since prices have come down.

RE: hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg

I am taking 40mg of LASIX as needed. Really brings the swelling down. Only problem, it also lowers your potassium and magnesium levels. Take extra K-DUR and MAG-OX to keep legs from cramping. Lay off the salt and caffeine(sp?).

Airbags or Timbren rubber spring helpers

I have an F350 w/Tow Boss and would like to get it a bit more level towing a fairly heavy fiver. Also have a bed tool box, and an EU3000 gen set when boondocking.
Would appreciate some technical help in choosing either an airbag setup or the Timbrens.
Thanks, Chuck

RE: Mor/Ryde Kingpin

I have a 19K Mor/Ryde on a Jayco 341RLQS Eagle, with 4-shocks on the axles. The difference with this setup is remarkable. Highly recommend the Mor/Ryde as a good step toward mitigating that chuking motion. Addition of shocks on your axles will take care of the rest.

RE: Mid Atlantic Group ELK NECK MD Sept. 25-27, 2009

Pointbreeze said I would probably like to join your group for some camping fun. She recommended sites 3 or 30, since our rig is quite large, 34' fiver, 57' total truck/fiver length. Sounds like a really great group.

RE: Gone to the dark side

I have the 08 F350 6.4L, c/c, long bed, dually w/4.30 rear. Pulling a 15,000 lb f/w Jayco Eagle. Have been through the PA Pocono Mtns, NY's Catskills and Adirondacks, and VA's Shenandoahs. Guages for eng and trans temp don't even move, but you sure do know it when that big fan comes to life. Current guage set is more than adequate.
Enjoy and happy trailering.

RE: Have new Jayco Eagle, tell me what I need for it...

We have a 341RLQS. First thing you need are a set of 2-way radios so your spotter can communicate with you. The manual that will come with your new Jayco has checklists in the back that will get you started for initial outfitting. You can enter "checklists" in the search box of this site, or google "rv checklists" on your home page for additional checklists. Be very careful when you are hooking up or unhooking your rig.
Happy camping.

RE: Jayco Eagle owners

We have the 341RLQS and love the layout, roominess, and comfort. Matched to our F350, it handles very well through all road conditions. After dewlivery, found only a few cosmetic items that we could easily fix. The documentation that is provided with the trailer could be can be a bit difficult to digest. Research for items you will need for camping, i.e., dishes, cookware, linens, tools, pantry items, etc. Make certain the dealer shows you where all the furnace, hot water heater heater propane, and hot water heater water control valves are located. You should also get a set of interior and exterior light bulbs and fuses to carry with you.
Happy camping.

RE: Something else to watch at the pump

As to the pump handle unlatching when the dollar amount has been reached, it won't unless the sensor inside the nozzle is activated by back pressure when fuel in your tank reaches it. I have found one such case of the handle still locked open by the previous user and caught it before the pump started. I now remove the nozzle and check it before I swipe my card.

RE: ford Super duty brake controller

Have an F350 SD Dually with integrated brake controller. Just pulled a Jayco 341 Eagle (5.5 ton) 113 miles for the first time on interstate and winding country roads. Set the controller to gain of 8.5 and never touched it til we were home. Braking under all conditions was smooth.
